So if you have a product or a service that you would like to sell, or even just an idea that you want to get across to people, how are you going to do that?

People take in 90% of their information visually. Ad copy is part of this equation but photos are a tremendously powerful communications tool. The right photo or collection of photos, with good composition, a good headline and body copy, and a professional logo with a snappy slogan will project the right image for your company or organization. The first thing the viewer sees is that photo so it needs to grab their attention, look positive, and draw the eye in. By the way, you have about 4 seconds.

Once you have the right image, you can use it everywhere - in print, on Facebook, on your website, and anywhere else you can imagine. Whether your goal is just to put together a still-life product shot or to "soup up" a group photo of employees or the company building, the last thing you want is to rush the quality or do it yourself if it would be possible for a professional to improve your look. There is no final point of arrival with professional ad photography, but with each ad message you want to get noticed in as positive a way as possible.


The right photo is just the beginning.

That perfect photo is great, fantastic. But are you really done yet? What more could an ad professional do with that image? Take a look at your favorite magazines, and look at the ads in there. Surf the net for a while and look again at the ads. Watch television or YouTube ads. How does your look compare to the standard your customer is seeing everywhere else? The big difference has less to do with just getting one or two great photos, and a lot more to do with what happens after that in post-production, compositing, effects, text and many other factors.Olympia, Washington photo © by David Pierik

You name it, I've probably photographed it a hundred times. I've shot cars, houses, people, products, storefronts and even hand models. I am a Certified Digital Photographer as well as a Certified Digital Image Editor.
